What is the deal with Abu Dhabi taxis?!

Yesterday & today Lea & I went out on a little adventure when for the first time since we moved here we took a taxi without Steve. Yesterday the taxi driver seemed to be upset with our destination and the entire ride he was ranting loudly in either Arabic or an other language that I did not understand. I was very happy to get out of his taxi.
This morning the taxi driver did not want to take us because there was too much traffic where we wanted to go!!! I realized that taxis here only calculate the distance not the time that you're in a taxi so that's why they are very apprehensive to take you in areas of high traffic or a short distance.
I learn something new everyday here.

  1. Hello Karolina,

Happy to hear that you finaly found an appartment. I can imagine that with a baby, you were eager to find something quickly. For taxis, you're gonna get used to their strange and somehow disappointing manners. Keep in mind that in such countries, they are THE boss, not the client they are supposed to get from one point to another...I know what I'm talking about, believe me. So find a car very quickly !!
